About This Spot

Walking into Opa Greek Restaurant, you’re instantly wrapped in an inviting, spirited atmosphere that flows with genuine warmth. Nestled along Chattanooga’s River Street, this is a place where time seems to slow, making room for connection, laughter, and the simple joy of shared meals. The hum of friendly conversation blends effortlessly with the subtle sounds of traditional music, setting a lively yet intimate tone that resonates throughout the evening.

There’s a rhythm here that encourages you to leave the everyday behind and immerse yourself in what feels less like dining out and more like joining a welcoming Greek family’s celebration. The pace is unhurried—each course arriving like a thoughtful chapter in a story that unfolds with anticipation. Without a fixed menu, every visit promises a spontaneous, chef-curated discovery where the element of surprise adds to the charm. From vibrant salads bursting with freshness to tender, thoughtfully seasoned mains and unique house-made drinks, every bite carries a comforting sense of authenticity and care.

This isn’t the kind of place where you just fill a seat; it’s where you find yourself encouraged to linger, to lean in, and to savor not only the food but the moments in between. The lighthearted tradition of spirited napkin throwing and dancing invites guests to shed their reservations and share in joyous human moments that transform a meal into an experience worth remembering.

Opa feels alive with genuine hospitality—the kind that comes from a deep love for culture and community. Here, the line between guest and family blurs, leaving you with more than a supper, but with a sense of belonging and a story to carry with you long after you leave.

I love EVERYTHING about this place! From the wait staff, to the chef and owner! The food is ridiculously amazing!! Don’t forget to stay for the party!! More importantly save room for the four course meal! YOU WILL LOVE THIS PLACE

The owner was so kind and did everything he could to make you feel welcome and at home. The food is a 4 course meal that he prepares, and it isn’t the same two visits in a row. That being said, there is no menu so be ready to be surprised. But don’t worry, you won’t be disappointed! I’ve never written a review but his service and the food made me feel compelled to do so. 10/10 :)

If you're in for a dinner EXPERIENCE that is unique, delicious, authentic, and ONE OF A KIND, this is the place for you. We went there with a party of 6 adults, and everyone had the best time, left feeling so full of yummy, homemade Greek food, and enjoyed the after dinner festivities of napkin throwing and dancing! It felt like we were all one big Greek family for a few moments! Just as a heads up to people: the owner and cook set the menu. We never picked any food, we just ate what was served and what he was cooking that night. We LOVED that part of this experience and it felt like eating at a friend's house and they made their own special, authentic dishes for you. The majority of the restaurant is pseudo inside/outside, so on a summer night it will feel like a summer night. To me, this felt like what it might be on a Grecian patio on the Mediterranean in the summer. It added to the EXPERIENCE. The food was incredible (my favs were the spanakopita and salad dish, and the chicken dish was just *chef's kiss* delish!) If you're looking for a cool experience with an amazing and authentic dinner, go to OPA! They will treat you like family and you'll have a meal you won't soon forget!!!

Very different dining experience, but not bad! Not often you go out and have no choice in drink or food selection so that was an adjustment. The food was served in 4 courses. Everything was very delicious although I did not care for the dessert. The wine from the owners village is just good. I thought the waiters could have been friendlier and shared what it was being served. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Cash only is odd in America in 2024, but luckily we were prepared. Go for the experience of the food plus breaking plates with everyone. Just go prepared too

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely anniversary dinner here! The house wine was good and plentiful and the pomegranate tea was refreshing. Every course was delightful (4 total) and we like that it was chef’s choice - no decision making required! Some highlights included one of the best salads ever, fall off the bone chicken thighs, and a crispy potato side. The dancing and napkin throwing was a fun way to end the night.

Celebrated my birthday at OPA , let me just say I am so impressed ! Initially I tried to make a reservation last year but due to restraint circumstances it was not possible, on a whim I booked another one this year. Skeptical at first, i was surprised to find out the owner remembered my reservation from last year and promised to make me and my guest “double happy” and that he did! He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and paid attention to! The experience was seriously unforgettable, the food was fantastic! I would recommend this place over and over again! Opa!

Absolutely amazing! So much good food! The food was all fresh ingredients and prepared just right! The wine was amazing, and the after dinner entertainment (starring you) is not to be missed!! I can't tell you the last time dining out was so fun!! I will definitely be back! Thank you Michael and staff for sharing a small piece of your world with the rest of us!

We went for Valentine’ Day and it was a phenomenal experience. The food and wine were delicious. The dancing at the end made it unforgettable! The owner Micheal puts his heart and soul into his restaurant.
